The Peacock at Rowsley has been a hotel since the 1830s and is part of the Haddon Estate, owned by Lord and Lady Edward Manners who live at nearby Haddon Hall.

This luxury Peak District hotel began life as a manor house in the late 1600s and has been a beacon of hospitality ever since. Located in the beautiful Peak District National Park, the family-owned hotel is an ideal base from which to explore and discover all that the area has to offer.

As an independent Peak District hotel we strive to provide exceptional service, food and comfort.

We have fifteen bedrooms, from cosy single rooms to bedrooms with four poster beds and a luxurious suite; an award winning fine dining restaurant to amaze the taste buds; a very popular private dining room which is perfect for special occasions; a cosy atmospheric bar with fine wines, local real ales, a cocktail menu and a freshly cooked local food offering; a beautiful river fronted garden designed by Arne Maynard; access to dry fly fishing on the Haddon Estate; exclusive guided tours and discounted admission to neighboring Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House.

History

Originally called Rowsley Manor, The Peacock dates from 1652 and was built for the Steward of nearby Haddon Hall. It then became a dower house for the Manners family before becoming a hotel in 1832.

Famed for its fishing and close location to Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and the spa towns of Matlock and Buxton, the Peak District hotel has been a haven for discerning travellers for over one hundred and eighty years.

The Peacock is situated between Bakewell and Matlock in the Peak District National Park. We are within an hour’s drive of Sheffield, Nottingham and Manchester and with an excellent train service from London St Pancras to Chesterfield.

During your stay you may meet The Peacock’s Head Chef, Dan Smith, who is the team member in charge of delivering our excellent fine dining menus.

Canine Friendly

The Peacock at Rowsley is pleased to be a dog friendly hotel. Dogs are welcome to stay in your room and we are happy to provide dog food and water bowls for your companion’s benefit. Please note that dogs are not allowed in our bar, restaurant or lounge.

Our canine guests are also sure to enjoy the local countryside, with many fantastic walking trails through the moors and hills of the Peak District on offer.

Dogs are charged at £30 per dog, per night to stay in our bedrooms.
