The Peacock at Rowsley is located in the heart of the Peak District, an area greatly loved by all who visit for its landscapes, history and outdoor leisure. In particular, a visit to Haddon Hall is not to be missed. Located near Bakewell, just down the road from The Peacock, Haddon Hall is the home of Lord and Lady Edward Manners, owners of the Peacock. Also of interest to guests at The Peacock are the local fisheries which offer the most extensive dry fly fishing for wild trout in the country.

Haddon Hall

Haddon Hall is an exceptional fortified medieval manor house, most likely the finest in existence, and is the home of Lord and Lady Edward Manners.

Places To Visit

The Peak District is home to both excellent historic buildings such as Chatsworth House and also breath-taking natural formations such as Poole’s Cavern.

From castle to cavern and moor to market, the Peak District is full of excellent places to visit.

Fishing

The Peacock is the hub for the Haddon Estate fisheries which offers some of the most extensive dry fly fishing for wild trout in the country. The Derbyshire Wye is also famous for being the only river in the UK with wild Rainbow Trout as well as wild Brown Trout.

Bike Hire

The Peak District National Park is famed for its cycling routes and there are several trails within easy reach of the Hotel. Guests at The Peacock also receive a 15% discount on cycle hire from Hassop Station.

From here you can access the Monsal Trail, an 8.5-mile stretch of railway line between Bakewell and Blackwell Junction near Buxton. Hassop Station also has an excellent café and gift shop.

Golf

Enjoy a few rounds at Bakewell Golf Club with free temporary membership and complimentary green fees for all guests at The Peacock.

Commanding striking views across the Derbyshire countryside, this challenging Peak District golf course is just a few minutes’ drive from the hotel.
