Fine dining in the Peak District

Gastronomy sits at the core of our hotel. Our restaurant team have been the proud bearers of three AA rosettes – the top ten percent in the country – for a number of years.

We will continue to close for lunch and dinner on Sundays and Monday and lunch on Tuesdays.  We hope to resume lunch and dinner on these days by Easter 2022.

We will however be offering lunch and dinner on Valentines Day- Monday 14th February 2022.

We will be closed for annual maintenance from 4th January, and then reopen on Tuesday 25th January 2022.

We are also open for Valentine’s day on Monday 14th February for lunch (serving our usual lunch menu). For dinner we will be serving our Valentine's tasting menu at £80.00pp. That week we will be closed for accommodation and food Sunday 13th, Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th February 2022.

We are also currently offering a special Tasting Dinner Bed & Breakfast package from £490.00 in a superior double room.

We offer both an indulgent, fine dining menu and a more relaxed bar menu to suit most tastes or moods. The key behind each dish served at The Peacock is seasonal, quality ingredients – something Head Chef Dan Smith is passionate about. Trained by Tom Aiken, Dan combines skill and creativity to merit the awards we have achieved.

Wherever possible, we serve truly local ingredients from right here in the Peak District, including organically-reared beef and lamb from the Haddon Estate. We also source beef, lamb and pork from E. W. Coates in Two Dales and Hancock’s in Stoney Middleton in Derbyshire.

Our charming bar serves lunch Wednesday to Saturday, with dinner served Tuesday to Friday from 6pm until 9pm

Our dinner, bed and breakfast rates include any three courses from our regular a la carte menu with no supplements.

Lunch is served from 12pm until 2pm.

The a la carte dinner menu is served in our fine dining restaurant Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm until 9pm. Please note that our classics from the bar are only available Tuesday through Friday. 

Our tasting menu is available on Friday and Saturday evenings, with special tasting menus for dietary requirements available when pre-booked.
