The Peacock at Rowsley has been a hotel since the 1830s. This luxury Peak District hotel began life as a manor house in the late 1600s and has been a beacon of hospitality ever since. Located in the beautiful Peak District National Park, the hotel is an ideal base from which to explore and discover all that the area has to offer.

We have fifteen bedrooms, from cosy single rooms to bedrooms with four poster beds and a luxurious suite; an award winning fine dining restaurant to amaze the taste buds; a very popular private dining room which is perfect for special occasions; a cosy atmospheric bar with fine wines, local real ales, a cocktail menu and a freshly cooked local food offering; a beautiful river fronted garden designed by Arne Maynard; access to dry fly fishing on the Haddon Estate; exclusive guided tours and discounted admission to neighboring Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House.

Originally called Rowsley Manor, The Peacock dates from 1652 and was built for the Steward of nearby Haddon Hall. It then became a dower house for the Manners family before becoming a hotel in 1832.
Famed for its fishing and close location to Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and the spa towns of Matlock and Buxton, the Peak District hotel has been a haven for discerning travellers for over one hundred and eighty years.
The Peacock is situated between Bakewell and Matlock in the Peak District National Park. We are within an hour’s drive of Sheffield, Nottingham and Manchester and with an excellent train service from London St Pancras to Chesterfield.
