On Friday 23rd January, The Peacock at Rowsley reopens after our winter break with newly refreshed menus, created by our chefs to celebrate seasonal ingredients and thoughtful, modern cooking.
Our kitchen team has been hard at work crafting dishes that celebrate seasonal produce from trusted local suppliers, blending classic flavours with modern technique.
The result is a collection of menus that balance generous flavours with refined technique, designed to be both comforting and memorable.
Whether you are planning a relaxed lunch, a romantic dinner or a special tasting menu evening, there is something here to tempt every appetite.
Book your table today to be one of the first to try these delicious new menus

Lunchtimes at The Peacock
Our lunch menu is designed to be flexible and generous, served every day from 12 to 3pm, except Sunday.
It offers a mix of nibbles, small plates, large plates and sandwiches, perfect for anything from a light bite after a countryside walk to a long, leisurely catch up with friends.
Small plates include a haggis scotch egg with a crisp golden crumb, a silky sea trout pâté and a mushroom and tofu parfait that brings deep umami notes.
For larger plates, you can enjoy traditional fish and chips done properly, a vibrant superfood salad with your choice of topping or slow cooked beef brisket that falls apart at the touch of a fork.
Our sandwiches are equally tempting, with spiced buttermilk chicken and halloumi, venison pastrami or a nostalgic yet elevated fish finger option.
Add a few sides to share and finish with one of our indulgent but fresh desserts and you have the perfect Peak District lunch experience.
Dinner that delights the senses
Dinner at The Peacock is all about creating a sense of occasion. Served from 6pm to 9pm and now available on Saturdays alongside our tasting menu, it is designed as a flowing journey from first bite to final spoonful.
Your evening starts with a selection of the chef’s daily snacks, followed by a choice of beautifully balanced starters:
- Sea trout with avocado, capers, dill and cucumber
- Duck liver parfait with duck pastrami, pear chutney, toasted walnuts and oat and maple biscuit
- Spinach and ricotta ravioli with black truffle and shallot vinaigrette
For the main course, the menu brings together confident, comforting dishes with refined technique:
- Pork with celeriac, honey and wholegrain mustard sauce, cavallo nero and haggis
- Stone bass with chorizo jam, cauliflower, samphire and bisque
- Beef fillet with beetroot, salsify, beef shin tartlet and red wine jus
Desserts round things off in proper Peacock style:
- Apple and rhubarb cheesecake
- Dark chocolate delice, our charity dessert supporting CPRE The Countryside Charity
- Mango, pistachio and passion fruit soufflé
Plant-based dining done properly
Premium dining in the Peak District should be for everyone, which is why our plant-based menus have been created with the same care and attention as the rest of our offering.
The plant-based dinner menu includes starters such as a crispy tofu and mushroom tartlet and a delicate beetroot and feta mousse.
Mains range from a comforting winter squash risotto to a beautifully caramelised shallot tarte tatin.
For dessert, you can choose between dark chocolate and oat milk panna cotta or a local favourite Bakewell tart, reimagined.

The tasting menu experience
For those who love to explore flavour and creativity, our eight course Saturday evening tasting menu is a true highlight.
It takes you on a curated journey of beautifully presented dishes, each one building on the last.
A plant based and vegan version is also available, ensuring everyone can enjoy the experience.
You can elevate your evening further with our wine flights, available in standard or premium options at £55 and £75 respectively.
