Winter Walks in the Peak District

Winter Walks in the Peak District

If you are staying at The Peacock this Winter, live locally or plan to spend some time in the Peak District, wrap up warm and put on your walking boots to enjoy some of the finest scenery in the country.

Here are just two suggestions for Winter walks in the Peak District.

Eyam and Stoney Middleton

On this 8 mile walk you will pass through two villages with quality pubs – the Miners Arms in Eyam is a good spot for a drink. The walk is a good mix of tracks and field paths, and you will be following drystone walls for most of the route. Quintessential village stocks and ponds will also feature.

Baslow, the Edges and Calver

This walk, also about 8 miles, allows you to take in some of the stunning views that the high gritstone edges in Derbyshire have to offer. Beginning in Baslow, you pass through woods and rowan trees. A slight detour to the Wellington Monument is recommended, and you will be crossing both streams and the river Derwent on your way back to Baslow.

The Peacock at Rowsley is on hand for refuelling after your spell in the fresh air, with delicious seasonal menus served daily.

We hope you enjoy the glorious Peak District as much we do.
