There’s lots to look forward to at The Peacock at Rowsley during the winter months.
Reopening to guests on January 19th, 2024, visitors can enjoy a bite to eat in the hotel’s cosy bar or dine in its fine dining restaurant, where both an a la carte and tasting menu are available.
Sitting in the lounge, guests can while away the hours with a good book and make the most of The Peacock’s delicious homemade shortbread with some tea or coffee.
On the hotel’s doorstep, there are a plethora of excellent walks, varying from a gentle stroll through Manner’s Wood to more rigorous walks to Stanton Moor and Lathkill Dale.
For those who prefer to go at speed, why not hire a bike and cycle the Monsal Trail, which is an 8.5-mile stretch of railway between Bakewell and Blackwell Junction near Buxton? If you don’t have your own bike, guests at The Peacock receive a 15% discount on cycle hire from Hassop Station.
For keen fishermen, The Peacock is the ideal place to stay. As the hub for the Haddon Estate fisheries which offers some of the finest and most extensive dry fly fishing for wild trout in the country, it’s not hard to see why people travel from all over the world to fish here.
Throughout the winter months, guests can fish for grayling on the River Wye, with the option of booking a highly experienced guide to help with technique if you’re a beginner.
In February, The Peacock will offer guests celebrating Valentine’s Day the option of a delicious lunch in our bar or restaurant, or a tasting menu for dinner (in our restaurant only.)
And on selected dates from Tuesdays – Thursdays in January, February, and March, we will be running our Fireside Bar Dinner B&B offer. From £310 per double room, it includes three courses taken from our bar menu (served in our cosy bar) and a full English breakfast the following day.
