Fly Fishing in Derbyshire

Fly Fishing in Derbyshire

Royalty, prime-ministers, even rock stars do it…take up the angling choice of the famous! At The Peacock at Rowsley, you will find a stretch of the Derbyshire Wye River that offers some of the finest and most extensive dry fly fishing for wild trout in the country. The river runs 7.5 miles from Rowsley village in the heart of the Peak District, through the market town of Bakewell, to the outskirts of picturesque Ashford in the Water. It is famous for its excellent water quality and is the only river in the United Kingdom with a self-supporting strain of wild rainbow trout, as well as wild brown trout. Like the presidents, actors and musicians we see pictured thigh deep in the rivers enjoying the sport, anglers come from all over the world to fly-fish these Derbyshire waters which run directly by our historic hotel.
