This weekend the Bakewell Show Ground will be awash with life and entertainment as Eroica Britannia comes to town for a second year. The 3 day event combines vintage cycle rides on pre-1986 bikes through the glorious Peak District countryside and a festival of camping, music, vintage shopping, exhibitions, street food, lawn games and much more.
Adult passes for the 3 days are just £10 and children under 12 go free. Tickets can still be purchased via the Eroica Britannia website.
The weekend also marks the conclusion of Velocipathy: A Celebration of Vintage Cycling hosted at Haddon Hall. This exhibition is a collaboration with Derby Museums as part of the Visit Peak District Summer of Cycling and Eroica Britannia, and highlights inlcude an 1870s velocipede manufactured in Derby by engineering firm George Fletcher and Co., and a Dewey ‘Express’ penny-farthing from the same period.
The exhibition ends this Sunday (21st June) and is just 6 minutes drive (slightly longer cycle) from the Bakewell Show Ground.
