On Friday 23rd September The Peacock will host its second foraging event with Dr Patrick Harding.
Following rave reviews, author, lecturer and TV personality Dr Harding will lead a new expedition around the ancient and unspoiled Haddon Estate in search of medicinal and edible wild plants.
The day includes lunch, an afternoon of foraging, a 3 course dinner (including foraged items) prepared by chef Dan Smith and an overnight stay in one of our 15 unique rooms.
In an article for Sheffield Telegraph, Lesley Draper paints an enticing picture of her foraging and dining experience:
“We wind our way up the path and through the woods, discovering unexpected delights –violets, dandelions and ground ivy all have their culinary uses – who knew? Then there’s wild arum for starching shirts, feverfew for headaches and a whole range of tasty fungi – from jew’s ear to oyster mushrooms – just waiting to be found.”
