COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Statement

Following the Prime Minister's annoucement yesterday evening the Peakcock will now be closed until further notice. Thanks to the government's very robust suppoer we can keep the business running and look forward to opening again as soon as circumstances allow.

Our reception team will be contacting guests with reservations, and will be on hand to answer any enquiries by email only as they will be primarily working from home.

We wish everyone the very best during these very difficult times and look forward to seeing you again on the other side.

The Peacock is committed to remaining open for our guests for as long as the circumstances allow. Our aim is to continue to provide the highest quality of food, drink and hospitality in our usual way.

We have put in additional measures including enhanced cleaning and removal of tables to increase social spacing for our guests.

We believe that a good restaurant and a stay in the countryside can offer a few moments of escape in these unprecedented times, but are also offering a takeaway menu to those who would prefer to enjoy our food from the comfort of their own home.

We will be here for as long as you want us and we look forward to welcoming you to the Peacock.

We would like to reassure our guests that we are adhering to the guidelines issued by the British Government, Public Health England and the National Health Service regarding coronavirus (COVID-19).

The health of our staff and guests is our priority, and we have therefore put in place the following precautionary measures:

  • To ensure our loyal customers are still able to enjoy our sumptuous food, even from the comfort of their own home, we will now be offering a takeaway menu in addition to running our normal restaurant and bar service.  Meals will be prepared during our normal food service hours and should be ordered at least 1 hour prior to collection. Collection is available from Monday to Saturday between 12pm - 2pm and 6.30pm - 9pm.
  • In addition to the existing handwashing facilities around the hotel, we are supplying hand sanitiser in key locations, and removing tables in the restaurant to give plenty of space for diners.
  • We have introduced additional cleaning to our already comprehensive routines, especially focusing on touchpoints such as door handles, public bathrooms, etc.
  • All our staff are receiving regular guidance and updates on how to prevent COVID-19 in the workplace.

In line with Government guidance, if you have a high temperature or a newly acquired continuous cough, please postpone your visit, and stay at home for seven days. Please also ensure that you practise good hand hygiene, following guidelines on how to avoid the virus, details of which can be found here on the NHS website:

We continue to welcome guests to the Peacock, with the reassurance that we have your health and wellbeing as our priority. Do come and spend an enjoyable time here, relaxing with your friends and family.

We will continue to monitor this developing situation, and will share regular updates on this page.
