The Peacock at Rowsley

Guided Walk: Ancient Estates of the Peak

Saturday 15 October 2016

Join us for a guided walk led by expert guide Cath Lee.

The walk will explore two of the most significant country estates in the region; Chatsworth and Haddon Estates, and will include lunch at the Haddon Hall restaurant and a tour of the Haddon gardens.

From the Peacock Hotel, we follow part of the long distance Derwent Valley Heritage Way footpath to the tiny estate village of Carlton Lees and then into the magnificant Chatsworth Park for a stroll alongside the river. After enjoying a morning break with views across to Chatsworth House, we then pass through the pretty estate village of Edensor and make our way slowly over the hillside into the market town of Bakewell. Highlights of the afternoon walk will include a woodland walk through Manners Wood – part of the Haddon Estate, and the opportunity to explore the private dear park of the Haddon Estate that isn’t normally open to the public.
