If the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas fill you with joy, make sure your festive preparations include a visit to Derbyshire. Here are just three reasons to book a mid-week or weekend escape at The Peacock this November and December.
A first for 2016, Bakwell’s Winter Wonderland will take place on the Bakewell Showground over two long weekends (Fri-Sun) – 18th-20th November and 9th-1th December. Featuring a Christmas market, fireworks, reindeer, a funfair, live music and food marquees, they will be weekends to remember. Just a short hop from The Peacock, the market town of Bakewell is also well worth a visit, with boutique shops and delightful cafes.
Every year Chatsworth House is beautifully decorated to celebrate the Christmas season and this year’s theme of The Nutcracker will not disappoint. Visit Chatsworth from 5th November to step into this enchanting Winter wonderland and browse for unique gifts at the Christmas market between 12th – 30th November. Just a few miles from the doors of The Peacock, make sure you discover Chatsworth’s unique Christmas beauty.
At Haddon Hall, Christmas will be themed by one of England’s most prominent historic eras – the Renaissance. Dramatic changes in art, literature and music all influenced the late 15th to early 17th centuries, and this in turn will influence Christmas around the hall. The ancient rooms at Haddon Hall will be dressed with swags, firs and natural decorations in keeping with the hall’s beautiful medieval architecture, and the great fires will be roaring – conjuring up a truly atmospheric setting to experience Christmas past and present.
Visit the hall from Thursday 1st December to Sunday 18th December to experience a Renaissance Christmas, with candlelight tours taking place on 7th, 8th, 9th, 12th & 13th December.
Enjoy a magical Christmas this year with a trip to Derbyshire.
We look forward to welcoming you!
